When should you go to ER or urgent care?
Emergency departments are meant to address the most serious and life-threatening health issues. Urgent care is meant to address urgent, same-day issues that are not life-threatening.
When should you refer to urgent care?
An Urgent Care Center provides care for conditions that are not life-threatening. Examples include:
- A common illness like the flu.
- Minor fever or headache.
- Painful sore throat.
- Earache or sinus pain.
- Minor injuries like a sprained ankle.
- Back pain.
- Cuts or small wounds.
- Small burns.
Should you go to urgent care for Covid?
Chest and severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, new confusion or inability to arouse, bluish lips or face, or severe bleeding are all reasons to go to an emergency room immediately.
Does urgent care do Covid testing?
Our Urgent Care is participating in the CARES Act! With this Act, we are able to provide COVID Testing to all who want or need to be tested.
What considered urgent?
Urgent medical conditions are ones that are not considered emergencies but still require care within 24 hours. Some examples include: Accidents and falls. Cuts that don’t involve much blood but might need stitches.
What qualifies as urgent care?
Urgent Care is when you need medical attention for an acute illness or injury. The ailment or injury that requires attention, but isn’t quite severe enough for a trip to the emergency department.
What can be treated at urgent care?
In general, the things that are treated in urgent care facilities include:
- Allergic reactions and asthma.
- Cuts, burns, bug bites and animal bites.
- Falls, sprains, strains, and broken bones.
- Colds and flus.
- Pink eye.
- Ear infections.
- Sinus pressure and sinus infections (sinusitis)
- Bronchitis and strep throat.
What happens when you go into hospital with Covid 19?
While you’re in ICU, your symptoms will be continually monitored. As they change, your care team may change the type or amount of support for breathing you receive. As you recover, they will gradually reduce the amount of breathing support you receive so your body takes on more of the work of breathing as it can.
How long do Covid symptoms last?
The great majority of people with coronavirus will have mild or moderate disease and will make a full recovery within 2-4 weeks. But even if you are young and healthy – meaning your risk of severe disease is low – it is not non-existent.
Can you have coronavirus without a fever? Yes, you can be infected with the coronavirus and have a cough or other symptoms with no fever, or a very low-grade one, especially in the first few days.
Can you go to the ER to get tested for Covid?

It is designed to be used with an existing RT-PCR testing instrument commonly used to test for seasonal influenza virus. It’s advisable to find out if the ER you are visiting has PCR equipment and an onsite lab.
